sound noise heard from the alpine radio
hello everyone, i am new to the site and in need of some assistance from anyone who could help. i have a 2000 celica gts and i just installed an apline cda-9847 head unit. everything works fine, but the only problem i am having is that i hear radio noise. it sounds like a fast tic, tic, tic, tic,(like coming from the spark plugs firing or something). i checked every wire down to a heart beat from the altenator & wiring, to the battery and wiring, & the spark plugs and wiring. the noise is barely noticeble at idle, but as i accelerate, the noise speeds up through the speakers. i have had best buy employees work on it to see if they may know what may be wrong. we found something about the harness(i used a harness that plugs directly into the factory harness) that said we had to add more resistors to the harness. the radio is controlled by the amplifier, so the harness has 2 rca outputs that go into the front and rear rca inputs for the alpine. that is where they said to add the resistors and we did so. the noise then calmed down and we could barely hear it, but it is still there. i also installed a 'ground insulator' that also brought the noise down. when i installed the head unit in and bolted it down, the noise is now only heard through the left-rear speaker(4 speaker system). we have tested every ground on the alpine and the harness and they were okay. i also installed a different head unit to see if it was the alpine, but the noise was still there.
if anyone has had this problem or may know what i could do next, please give some assistance. i will greatly appreciate the help. Thanks! D.W. |

Re: sound noise heard from the alpine radio
Sounds like you have your Amp power cable(one coming from battery to amp) and your RCA cables to close. If you have them to close, you will get all kinds of interference, even engine sounds amplified through your speakers. I recommend moving your power cable to one side of your car (driver door, at base of door) and your RCA cable to the other (passenger door, at base of door) or visa versa.
Also, make sure you have no exposed wires. If you have a speaker wire exposed and touching a piece of metal, there is a possibility of picking of extra current besides what your radio is putting out. |

Re: sound noise heard from the alpine radio
thanks a bunch for the idea. i will try and do that as soon as i can. i never thought of that before. i guess it is just the toyota model that i have. one other person told me that i could use a 'capacitor' to get rid of the noise. as far as i know, a 'capacitor' just stores the voltage and pushes it to the amplifier and also helps to stop the lights from flickering because of the bass. a coulple of ideas i never thought of, but the last idea doesn't sound right.
anywho, thanks for the idea and i will try it tommorrow to see if that works. Thanks a bunch! D.W. |
