2001 Park Avenue: Screwed

I'm replacing all 4 of the the lower weatherstripping that mounts on the bottoms of the doors and the 20 nasty, corroded black trim screws that attatch them to the doors.

The molding has arrived, but of course without the screws. The dealer quoted me $5.08 per screw. GMparts4less.com lists them for $3.19 per screw. I'm not paying 100, or for that matter, 65 bucks for a handful of black trim screws.

Any ideas?

The part number is 11509172.

Also, does anyone have the part number for the 2 screws that mount the underhood lamp assembly to the underside of the hood? Some genius removed the factory ones and replaced them with 2 of those shiny, chunky license plate mounting screws. Who knows why...

I really want to keep this car correct.

Thank you everyone.

Thank you.

Most body shop supply houses can get these for you much cheaper.

In addition to the above, I believe you can find trim screw assortments at AutoZone, in the "Help" section. If not, you could always use a glass bead blaster to clean your screws & then repaint them.

If all else fails, you can order them from GM Parts Direct
and save some money! (Still cost too much)
GM PART # 11509172
GM LIST: $4.25
OUR PRICE: $2.52

Re: 2001 Park Avenue: Screwed

Regarding the 2 screws holding the underhood light...I'm thinking that the license plate screws may be bigger than the original underhood lamp screws, thereby stretching the holes. Every once in a while, I have seen license plate screws that are black. Might be worth changing the chrome ones for black ones. Though not original, will be less (if at all) noticeable.

Re: 2001 Park Avenue: Screwed

Thanks everyone for getting back. I'm going to post my impressions of this car when I have some time to sit down and get my thoughts together. So far, I like the car more than I thought I would.

By the way, that black and blue gothic little curlycue thing in my picture is a scan from the inside cover of the 2001 PA catalog. The catalog is loaded with pictures of old iron gates.
