Re: 1988 For Sale (Again)
Well I called the dealership today and my gorgeous BMW 633csi went home with someone else. Can you believe them, not waiting for me to come in and offer them less??? Anyway you asked for how fast the car needs to go. My moms fiance (husband as of next week) is moving into our house September 1st with his car and all his crap. So there is the time frame, make me a reasonable offer, PM, Post, [email protected], 513-739-0030. If you are nearby, we can schedule a "viewing". I haven't put tires on it, so it isn't ready for a test drive, as soon as I get a serious buyer I will put tires on at no cost to you. I think there is no sense spend a few hundred bucks when I won't even use the tires.

Re: 1988 For Sale (Again)
Expect around $5-$5.5k for that car. Having no sunroof DOES hurt the price of the car. Try selling on www.fiero.nl if you want to move it to an enthusiast.

Re: 1988 For Sale (Again)
How does not having a sunroof hurt the car? It really is in the eye of who wants to buy it. Especially on a car that old. Other than that it's an '88 GT. THE most sought after year GT. If anything, NOT having the sunroof means less sun/heat damage to the vinyl padding in the interior. Especially to an 18 year old car in that kind of shape. Again, I'd start at $6500-$7K and not let it go for less than $5500. I've seen lesser Fieros on ebay going for way more. The ones listed on the Fiero store are no less than $7k.
Whatever, it's up to you dude. Good luck on selling her, =-Dread |

Re: 1988 For Sale (Again)
Pro and cons of a sunroof. I have one Fiero with and one without. In Florida with the sun roof in place, the interior is like a oven, with the sunroof out, the top of your head broils. If the sky is overcast, the sun roof cracked open you do get better ventilation. Without the sun shield in place the AC (converted to 134a now) can't keep the car cool enough. I wear a baseball cap in the car. The sun glare is brutal coming through the glass in the roof.
With no sun roof, the AC keeps the car cool, no glare, no head broil and no leaks. When I lived in upstate NY, the sunroof was nice, the sun's intensity was a lot less, so could be cracked open or removed. It is a personal choice.

It hurts the car because thats a much desired and wanted option. The car has 90k miles, not high for its year, but nothing special. Heres one with less miles, sunroof, and a more desireable color; http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ponti...13459799QQrdZ1 What you think somethign is worth and what it actually is are two different things. |

Re: 1988 For Sale (Again)
So are t-tops. Why not knock off points for that? It's really up to the buyer but it shouldn't mean that the car's worthless and should go for $3000 because there's no sunroof. I wouldn't go to a mint hard top GTO and say, "uh oh, this isn't a ragtop... can you knock $15000 off the price?" And why is it when I try and help this kid get a good price for his car, it's what "I" think it's worth while you name a price and it's "what it IS worth?" I've owned Fieros for 11 years I think I kinda sorta have SOME idea what they're worth. I'm not trying to be a jerk and knock you or anything but it's really my opinion vs. yours. When selling a car you always go higher than what you think you can get for it so by the time the guy talks you down you at least end up close to what you wanted.
That ebay link? It's up to $5700US and his reserve hasn't been met yet. I saw an '86 GT in there and he started his bid at $6500. Do I think it's worth it? Not really, no... I like the '88's because they have the better suspension. But that's just me =-Dread |

Re: 1988 For Sale (Again)
That 88 hit $8900 and did not sell. Personally I would prefer white over red, but I'm not buying the car. The car is still for sale. I just spent $200 to put BF Goodrich tires on the back and had them professionally mounted and balanced. Sorry the tires are miss matched, but I could not find Goodyears in the right size in stock. I took the car for a drive around the neighborhood, and she drives great. I also broke out the buffer and buffed out the scratches and put a coat of wax on her. I went to my grandmothers house and I found the cars service history. I also found the "Fiero Secrets" newsletters with dates from 1992 back to 1985.

Wow! If it didn't sell then his reserve price was never met meaning he wanted a lot more than $8900 for that car. That's why I don't like ebay for selling cars. I'd rather they come right out and say how much they want for it. =-Dread |

Re: 1988 For Sale (Again)
Hey I want your car but just so you know I have one that has 4800 miles on it and pulls a 9.873 in the 1/4 ... the stack of parts reciepts totals over $32,000.00 without labor but when a woman hit me and totalled it they only had to offer 1900.00 and I fought them for 30 days to get 3000.00 out of it and the custom paint job was more than that... not to mention the 20+ car show certs and awards on it plus the fact that it was a west coast customs car...
I'll try to come up with the cash and agree to it that you could buy it back if I ever wanted to sell it [email protected] or myspace.com/jack_ink (I never really check the yahoo one) but post back |
