Question Anyone else have this problem?

I have an '04 Sentra that has had problems since I bought it. I was wondering if anyone has had problems with their belt squealing. The dealership has changed the belt several times since there was a manufacturer problem with the first belt they had on the '04 Sentras. They have tightened the belt several times and now that the warranty has expired I am left with a squealing belt still!! It mostly does it when it's either cold or damp weather. The dealership also checked the pullies as well. A year after I owned the car the fuel pump had to be replaced as well anyone else have that problem? What it was doing was this it was hard to start after the car had been sitting a while and the weather didn't matter. It would just crank then if you turned the key back and then tried again it would most of the time start. So if you have that problem might want to have the fuel pump checked.

hmmm. i have the 2001 sentra se, and i get a squeal almost every time i start it. its just that ive been tooo lazy to lube the starter up for no squeal. its not hurting my car at any way or anything. have you tried belt dressing for the squealing belt?

Re: Anyone else have this problem?

Belt dressing? Bare with me I am female.lol. All I know is the dealership supposedly changed the belt several times and tightened it up. When I start the car it squeals and all the way down the road it squeals. Sometimes after it warms up it will occasionally stop. When u press on the gas the noise seems to ease up but gets worse at the stop sign when sitting still I now pretty much put up with it. I mean the car has done this since I got it almost. Thanks a bunch for your suggestion.

Re: Anyone else have this problem?

actually i have some more specific advice. belt dressing isnt always going to make it stop, and more often than not it will return once the dressing wears off. you should take it back to the dealership. they cant turn you away. all dealerships warranty their work, so if anything they did to your car didnt help, they should fix it until its fixed, so to speak. dont let them bullshit you. dont let them tell you to pay for this further work either. its their fault they didnt fix it. for all normal squealing belts, use a stiff wire brush on the grooves while the car is running to remove the glazing causing it to squeal. be careful when you do this for obvious reasons.
