Unhappy A/C not blowing air like it used to.

When ever I go on a long trip, the a/c blows air fine and dandy, but after a couple of hours of driving, the air out of the vents just trickles out. Even when it's on full blast. What's wrong with my car? Is it time for a new blower motor or what? Any suggestions would be very helpfull. Thanks!

Re: A/C not blowing air like it used to.

if not as much volume of air is blowing after the car has been running for a while, but the settings are not changed and the sound of the blower motor does not change in volume, then something is most like physicly restricting the air flow. the only thing i can think of that would cause a restiction only on long runs is if the evaporatoir is iceing up, to test this, try to keep the A/C and defrost off on your next trip and use only the standard vents, if this is the cause, a tech will need to look into why it is iceing up. the only other idea i have if that does not work is see if there is any difference between fresh and recirc air. if there is, some leafs or someting may be caught in the cowl at the base of the windshield

Re: A/C not blowing air like it used to.

If you readjust the settings from say vent to flor back to vent does it start back right? Could be a problem with the baffles that direct the airflow.

EDIT: Never mind, if that was the case you would feel the air blowing from a different location.

actually, that is a good point, some people wouldn't think to feel the floor vents or defroster, and if the baffles were vacuum actuated, as most cars are, would pin point the problem to a vacuum leak, however a saturn's baffles are cable controled.

Well, I do learn something every day. Didn't know they were cabled with a saturn as I haven't had a need to look yet. Thanks for the info.
