Cooling Fan problem

well i have yet run into another problem with my jeep .... but i still wouldn't trade it for the world haha
anyway everytime i get the rpms up a little it sounds like a wind tunnel in the front of my jeep like the fan is spinning 10 times faster than it should be ... and no its not running hot ... its a 4cyl 95 so if you have any ideas why it would be doing this all of a sudden let me know

Does it do this at running temp, cold, or all the time?
The only thing that comes to mind is a bad fan clutch.
When the engine is cold, you should be able to spin the fan rather freely.
When the engine is hot, there should be some drag in the fan.
Sounds to me like your getting good air flow.
Are you sure this is a problem?

well its not really a problem i mean yeah it keeps the engine cool but its taking alot of horse power away ... considering i dont have much the way it is... but yeah that clutch thing you were talking about??? how much is it and where would be a good place to find one and if you dont care i could greatly use the exact name

I dont know if this would solve your problem because usually this goes bad and doesnt spin the fan fast enough and the car begins to overheat. It is a very simple job. Are you sure it just wasnt always doing it that way? I mean when you rev the gas the fan will spin faster.

no it never did this before .... it actually started when i was leaving college about a week ago and at first it wasnt a constant sound .. it was a grinding metal sound that only lasted for a couple of seconds and then quit then later it would happen again and quit again .... on a 20 minute drive it done it probably 3 times or so and then that night i got sick of it doing it so i just revved up my jeep and the sound automatically made one last sound then stopped and thats when the wind tunnel thing started happening not sure... i've never run into anything like this before but oh well i guess i'm about to find out...

I'VE SEEN THIS BEFORE. WHEN YOU GAS IT A LITTLE IT SOUNDS LIKE A WIND TUNNEL, THE SCRAPING NOISE.... HAVE YOU LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD WHILE A FRIEND REVS IT? ON MY 99 TJ, IT TURNED OUT ONE OF THE RUBBER BUSHINGS ON A MOTOR MOUNT GAVE OUT AND IT CAUSED THE ENGINE TO MOVE WHEN REVVING, CAUSING THE FAN BLADE TO HIT THE FAN SHROUD, AND I DID THE SAME THING REVVED IT HARD AND BROKE BOTH THE SHROUD AND THE BLADE.

no man thankx for the info but that isnt what is wrong with mine its actually the fan clutch or clutch fan whatever you call it.... the reason i know this is because i have looked under the hood and the fan is not hittin and i got in there the other day and messed with it(beat with a hammer) a little and now its working right again

You can do like so many others have done before you and replace your clutch cooling fan with an electric cooling fan.

1) You will see an increase in horsepower.

2) You will not be hearing the overreving of your clutch fan.

Do your homework (shop around -- i.e. E-bay and the internet) and you can find one of these fans at a reasonable price with the instructions on how to install.

I recomment that you find one with a thermostat included.
