Re: Progress: Widebody wanna be Do-Luck Supra dyno queen

Oh my heck! I'm still building this? Yes, I'm rushing forward to get it ready for the AFMOTY. And I'm also trying to get it done before my holy grail of model kit arrives, because then pretty much everything will come to a screeching halt while it gets built.

Anywho, the motor is mostly done. I've still got a the wiring, and a little plumbing even, to do. Example, some vacuum lines, wires, brake lines, and the throttle cable. Peep my Veilside intake plenum and fuel rail (sorta), and my BOV. I'm mighty proud of those and the strut bar.

Interior is mostly done. I still have to add the harnass bar and the harnasses, but otherwise it's done. I'm keeping it simple. If I have time, I will add some guages and electronics, but not ICE. Seats are SAS, and I used the PE seat mounting rails, though in hindsight, I'd probably leave them out next time beacuse between them and what I had to add to mount them level, they sit too high in the car. Wheel is from the Tamiya Skyline parts set, and the shift knob was shaped and sanded out of aluminum rod.

I'm also using the SAS Do-Luck spoiler. The spoiler was primed, painted, and covered in SMS Hi-def CF decal. I then used the HOK acrylic clear because I didn't think it would attack the decals. For the most part, it didn't, but there was a small crack in the spoiler, and after clearing, the crack opened even through the black paint, and down into the primer or to the resin. No time to recover from this, so I'll just use my new Gundam marker to paint in that crack. Shh, don't tell anyone. Also, I made a rad little stand to hold the spoiler while I sprayed clear on it.

Thanks! Comments, pointers, help, please!

That's some really nice underhood work. I'm personally not feeling the steering wheel though. For such a 'tuned' car, it seems too tame..

What would you use in its place?

Personally, I think something like a Sparco or Momo style wheel would fit nicely. If you don't have any spares around (maybe from a racing car kit or aa Revell Tuners car or somethin?) Aoshima makes an accessories set with some.

Of course this is all just my opinion. If you like the current wheel, then by all means use it. It's not "bad" I just think something more agressive looking would fit better on a Do-Luck car.

these are the style I mean

Re: Progress: Widebody wanna be Do-Luck Supra dyno queen

That's a cool wheel for sure! If you could get one to me in 1:24 in... three hours or so, I'd probably use it For some reason with this one, though, I decided to keep a stock looking wheel with an airbag. Not sure why, but I often get things in my head and just have to do it that way, for no real rational reason. I also thought that the more "agressive" wheels I have in my spares box are a little dated (mid to late '90s, early '00s), and I wanted something a little more modern, even if a little more tame.

Thanks for the input though, it is valued. You've got reasons to back up what you say; you're not just telling me "I think your car should be blue!"

Re: Progress: Widebody wanna be Do-Luck Supra dyno queen

I love this Supra! The before and after body shots makes the stock Supra look almost ugly, the bodywork in that color is quite sexy. Nice job on the engine and interior, I especially like the VeilSide intake and the BOV, what did you use for the horn?

Good luck at AFMOTY!
