Question yet another question

what is the function of the Transmission Throwback cable? wat does it do. mine is not connected, will it increase acceleration or gas mileage? it seems to run just fine. I was told that it downshifts my car when i step on the gas pedal, but it already does that. just wondering, thx

CHee!!

Re: yet another question

Ive never heard of a throwback cable. I even ran a google search for it and didnt turn up anything. Is that the correct terminology?

Smile Re: yet another question

i have the Chilton here titled "Contour/Mystique/Cougar
1995-99 Repair Manual"
and in section 3-13 in figure 52, it says "Remove the transaxle kickdown cable from the throttle body-automatic transaxles only". But jsut tonight I learned from a buddy that it is the cable that controls the Cruise Control. thanks though maynard. I will be having some more questions here in the future because this is the car that I am learnign everything on, and attmepting to customize everything on. by the way, do you know where I can go to learn all of the interior and exterior demensions as close to exact as possible? like the seats so that I know exactluy how much fabric to order? or how wide, deep, thick, ect. that all of the panels are? well thanks again bro, take er' easy.

Re: yet another question

And if you haven't already found it, contour.org, especially the forums, is your single best source of information for this car.
