aftermarket radio issue on 95 sc2

my girl friend owns a 95 sc 2 and for christmas im installing a pioneere cd player in it, the factory radio never held its memmory, and now with the new radio in the hole it will flash on for a few seconds, not even long enough to get a signel in, then off, on off on off, over and over, and im at a loss for what it could be, ive installed lots of these things and never seen any of um do this, any advice as to whats messen up would be nice, TIA Doug
(ps, when plugged into one of my vehicals the player works just fine)

There is obviously a problem with the cars wiring. The wire that connects to the stereo to preserve the memory settings is always powered, even with the car turned off. This wire must not be getting power like it should.
