Replaced shift solenoid, now blowing erls fuse

96 grand am, auto.
replaced shift solenoids in trans. and now when I start my car the erls fuse blows. I did do a no no on accident, while attaching the axle I had to unlock the steering column, long story short I forgot that the key was on and connected the battery. So I don't no if I blew a diode or not. I read a post about this happening. I looked for a diode and have not had any luck finding it. I looked at the plug on the a/c
and couldn't see anything there. Where is this mysterious diode? Also if I unplug the large plug that goes to the trans the fuse will not pop. Is it possible that A- I got a bad solenoid and it's causing the fuse to blow? or B- Is there a diode that is between the shift solenoid and the fuse? I am baffled. Any help would be Greatly Appreciated....Thanks....

Re: Replaced shift solenoid, now blowing erls fuse

Well when you replaced the solenoids, was the battery connected?

Well it sounds like the trany harness might have a short.
The diode is marked with the diode symbol , your manual should also list it in the fuse box under the hood.

These are someother things that might have the short(thats on that same circuit, i think), but since it didnt do it till you worked on the trans, I'd start there.
Back up lamps
Canister purge valve
EGR
Auto Trans
Brake Transmission Shift Interlock
Anti-lock Brakes
Variable Effort Steering
A/C compressor
Park Lock Solenoid

crazy Jim, what are you talking about;

Re: Replaced shift solenoid, now blowing erls fuse

Last night I cut the wire to the A pin on the trans, which grounds the A solenoid as well as the B pin which does the B solenoid, to see if either solenoid was grounding out and the erls fuse still blew, which leads me to believe that the problem is not with in the trans. I still need help finding that diode for the a/c clutch. If anyone has replaced it on a 96 grand am please let me know exactly where it is......thanks

Cutting those wires wasnt a good idea, when you could have just unpluged the harness on top of the trans

If your not able to test what I posted about then you'll need it taken to a qualified shop that can.

and again the diode is in the fuse box. has two arrows pointing at eash other .............
