Leyton House CG901 - 1/20 Tamiya
Hi guys,
This is my first post here and I know I have a long way to go before I reach the standard some of you guys build to, but heres a little something thats been ongoing for about the last 15 years !!!. I bought this kit when it firsty came on the market in the early '90s in those days I was not into detail painting, however I recently rediscovered this 90% built kit in the stash at my mum's place, stripped it down and basically rebuilt it. Its built straight OOB and finished with Tamiya aerosol paints and the kit decals, all the Green and White areas of the car are decals, and we all know how bad Tamiya decals can be, in this instance they reacted pretty well to the Microscale system and I'm fairly pleased with the outcome, with the exception of the tyres, the first set of Goodyear marking fouled up completely and i had to rob replacements from another kit. I've picked up a few more Tamiya kits with the intention of adding more detail including wiring looms and radiator piping etc. The next one up is the Jordan 191 I'll post some pics when I get a chance. and 1/4 fill a mug with water. While the kettle is warming give the can a good smooth shake for a minute or so, and then add warm water (not boiling) from the kettle and top the mug upto about 1/2 way, the water should be hot but not so hot that you can't put your fingers in it, pop the aerosol can into the water and leave it warm through, 30/40 seconds is usually enough (you can hear the paint fizz in the can). Pop the can out , I usually give it a wipe with a kitchen towel as you dont want stray water droplets hitting your paint job .Spray whilst the can is still warm to the touch, the extra heat of the warm water seems to help the propellant dissolve more easily and paint flow is fuller and smoother .Use whats left of the water in the kettle to make a cuppa and enjoy it while the paint cures off opcorn: Happy modelling Ant |
