Re: how can i fix my gas milage?

Have you tried the fuel filter?

Do a search for gas mileage or fuel economy and you will have several posts. Just go from simple to more complicated. Fuel filter, spark plugs & wires first. Then try emission control components such as the O2 sensors.

Also, what is your city/highway ratio. City driving can KILL you fuel economy.

If you're getting 21 around town, you're doing ok. Make sure you take the lead shoe off your tight foot too.

I agree with Rich. For a GTP if thats in city its fine. If highway only bad.

Re: how can i fix my gas milage?

I have a lead foot and that's pretty close to what I get for city driving.

i think im floating in the same boat. i have to stay at about 60mph to get 25.5mpg on highway as soon as i hit 70mph it starts to drop. so i think im in need of something myself. i did everything but my fuel filter simply because the current one is rusted one and cant get it off...my friend told me to take a torch and heat it up and it should come off nicely....should i smack him or do one of you guys want to? haha

othrwise im guessing my fuel filter will set me straight because if the current one is rusted on its obviously stock

Re: how can i fix my gas milage?

A torch on a fuel filter?!?!?! Are you sure he's a friend??? Get a can of PB Blaster rust penetrant, spray it liberally, wait 5 minutes, and spray again. Wait 5 more minutes and it should come right off. If you unhook the quick disconnect side first, you can hold the line nut with a wrench, and spin the filter which seems to help in breaking it free. Plus, if the line nut is rusted to the line itself, you wont kink or twist it off. Good luck.

well i got the fuel filter off and new one back on. i hope all works better now. i got scared because when i was twisting it because the fuel line started to twist...I would not want to have a kinked or twisted line i dont want to know how much that wouod cost or how labor intensive it would be haha thanks guys

Re: how can i fix my gas milage?

00. almost 100,00 miles. havent tested the backpressure drop yet, i will if you really thinkl its worth it. i just assume get an emissisions test done then gut the thing. king let me know how your fuel filter replacement helps. i cant do 60. to and from work is almost all highway, almost always 80.

the fuel filter really didnt do much maybe 1 or 2 more MPG's but for 6 bucks..hell 2 more MPG is great haha. i didnt notice it running any richer or i didnt notice any difference in accel or anything its prob a gradual thing.
