Those are both UT 1/18th's. The LM is the early style with the double-planed wing and those goofy surrounds on the exhaust pipes that the early GTRs wore.

I believe those belong to Eric from diecastxchange.com. I definitely would not mind having either of them. I've never even seen a 1:18 UT F1 in person.

Odd.
My Papaya UT doesn't have the two exhaust tip rings.

Then again, it's packed away and I haven't clapped eyes on it for over a year!

My 1/8 UT 1995 Gulf has the 2 gold oval exhaust shrouds on it. Anyone know what purpose these serve?

Re: Mclaren F1 1/18 Garage

I believe they represent a heat shield around the exhaust found on the early GTRs. At some point late in the 1995 season they were removed from the real cars - possibly due to weight concerns.

There were two versions of the UT GTRs and LM - one of the changes was that section around the exhaust, another was the vents in the nose and finally a change was made to a single-plane wing in the rear.

Re: Mclaren F1 1/18 Garage

Thanks!

I'm usually pretty good with providing visual examples too, so why not here as well. Here's some very early images of GTRs #01R, #02R & #03R all sporting the surround as I described.

Here's a couple of recent shots of GTR #05R which still wears them - in fact it may be the last GTR that's like this:
