suzuki rgv(xr89)(kenny roberts)
hi guys,
after some break & decision making, i've decided to make this kit as it's been waiting for me to build for some months. i've been waiting for sms pe sets so that i can try to put some realism on the bike. as i was trying to make some pe sets, after all the readings i've done on the sms set & careful understanding, somehow i managed to screw it up when i tried to do the rear brake disc & the gear chain. can't believe this after all these. ![]() anyway, just to tell you people what i've been doing just now, i've started the swing arm & painting the parts of it. well, at least i got the plastic kit to spare after i screwed up on the pe parts. adrian |

ha ha, happens to all of us. Glad you didn't glue your fingers to those tiny parts! Better luck next time and hopefully there are some bits that you can still use.

Re: suzuki rgv(xr89)(kenny roberts)
yeah, if i did have my fingers stuck on it, surely it hurts trying to pull it out.
![]() anyway, this is the first time i used the sms pe parts & luckilly there are still some parts that can be used. i'm trying to make this one better than the movistar rgv that i've made before. just like the first time i used the s27 pe sets for my repsol '03 where i screwed up on the muffler. as i've seen your comments on your completed movistar rcv on your website, i agree the checkered part is a real pain. i've done 2 rcv '03 movistar & the recent rgv movistar, i have the problem on that part too. adrian |

Re: suzuki rgv(xr89)(kenny roberts)
PE looks so great on the sheet doesn't it?
Harder to do something good with those tiny pieces, especially when you bite your finger nails and has fingers that never will play a piano Fun to do a kit once again, you must have learned a few tricks along the road to do this one even better? I've never tried that but I have more Redbull, Fortuna and Camel bikes laying around and I sure do have some improvements to do on those from the first I did even though these other ones are from other years. /Joel

Re: suzuki rgv(xr89)(kenny roberts)
yeah, it's true. the pe set looks nice but what i didn't forsee is the joints are so closed to each other. so, i have a hard time to take it out as i don't have any pair of smaller scissors & i have to use a pair of tweezers to twist here & there to pull it out.
there are things to be learnt in whatever we do in life. i'm sure you must have learned something whenever you make a kit, right? i also do learn things from the making of the kit so that i can be more careful next time.adrian |

Re: suzuki rgv(xr89)(kenny roberts)
hi guys,
i know that it's been a while since i last post things here & i know this thing. but anyway, here are the photos of the engine, engine & swing arm attached together.![]() ![]() it took a some time to get it done, i admit i was a little lazy into building it that time but i have to go on to get it done since i screwed up on the pe parts earlier on. i thought of not posting the pics of them as i far as i understand that the design concept of the rgv '99 & '00 version is almost the same & i have posted the pics of the rgv when i made the movistar version. but for this i see that it's slightly different compare to my movistar version, so i show these pics. i'll be working on the exhaust mufflers along with the handlebars & the front fork if i have the time. i hope i can do better than my movistar rgv with this. i'll show some pics when i've done the model without the fairings attached or the other parts before that if the design looks different than the '00 version or even after placing the pe sets as i still have the spare. adrian |

Re: suzuki rgv(xr89)(kenny roberts)
Of coarse you shall post pics! THis is a new build and we want to be in from the start! I really like the blue chain, that's a nice touch to the rgv:s.

Re: suzuki rgv(xr89)(kenny roberts)
thanks joel,
i will post more pics when i finish one part. your pramac test bikes looks interesting & i've been following your thread. not only your pramac bike but your other bikes are also interesting that i also follow your work on them too. for the chain, i've painted slowly so that it wouldn't get to the top or the bottom part of the chain. as for the spring i painted half of it first as i can't think of an idea to make a stand for the spring so that i can paint it whole. what i did is i painted half of the spring along with the inside part then i let it dry. when it's dry then i paint the other half along with the inside. so far i've just completed the 4 exhausts, so i'll post the pics of it when i attach them to the engine. adrian |

Re: suzuki rgv(xr89)(kenny roberts)
hi,
here are the pics of the exhaust along with the handlebars attached to the frame in different angles. ![]() ![]() i'm currently doing the front brake discs. when i've finished painting, it looks so terrible with the colour that is gun metal with flat base which i don't really know how to use the flat base. so i'll be painting that part again till i'm satisfied with it. i notice long before i reach that stage that the front brake discs ain't same size. so, i only managed to put the sms pe parts for the larger brake disc & i can't put the other the same as it's smaller & doesn't fit. after this, i'll be working on the front fork when i'm satisfied with the brake discs. adrian |

Re: suzuki rgv(xr89)(kenny roberts)
hi guys,
here are the photos of the completed model in different angles. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() there is just a little bit of missing part that is the showa logo went missing when i tried to put in the front fender. another part would be the blue part where the rgv logo is a little bit torn but i managed to cover it up. even the red part on the tail is a little bit torn but i managed to cover it up. adrian |

Re: suzuki rgv(xr89)(kenny roberts)
Nice job Ace! Are the inside of the top cowl supposed to be white? Besides that and that the grey decal undernieth the seat looks a bit wrinkled it looks very nice!
Ever thought of trying some light weathering on the exhausts? Will lift the models even higher, I promise you that! Best regards Joel PS. Damn you're fast!
