Front End Shimmy
When I hit bumps on regular paved roads, the front end of my 2002 Xterra shimmy's, feels real loose thru the steering wheel, but when I checked out the front end , I can't find anything loose, tie rod ends, idler, ball joints all seem fine, I really don't know how to check the radius arms, don't know if they're related to that type of problem though, but they seemed OK. The truck has abt, 73,000 miles, with no work done to front end since we've got it with 18,000 on it besides brakes. Any ideas?
Thanks. Louie |

Re: Front End Shimmy
Shocks. They sound worn out and are not controlling the rebound of the control arms. In my humble opion.

Re: Front End Shimmy
Have you modified the suspension at all? Bilstein makes a good shock. I run the Calmini shocks that came with their 3" lift kit, and haven't been impressed at all. You can choose different ride stiffness with Bilsteins.

Re: Front End Shimmy
There are no radius arms on an Xterra. Perhaps you meant torsion bars?
