i have a 99 v6 mtx when the dumb thing is cold it goes like it should. which isnt stunning but hey. as soon as the enging warms up something does something and i have no more power. pppfffssssssshhhhh..... and then i feel stupid. i dont like feeling stupid. im buying a Vtec civic cause its cheaper to get performance and make it look cool. so i need to make cougar run right to sell it. or you can just buy it. any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: stupid cougar like a dead cat
Probably heatsoak. Do you have an aftermarket intake?

I am experiencing a similar issue. 100% stock 2001 V6 MTX. Did you ever find a solution to your problem?

Re: stupid cougar like a dead cat
Do you feel this loss of power around a certain RPM. Like maybe 3500-4000 all the way to redline. If this is the case it may be the IMRC.

Re: stupid cougar like a dead cat
I would do a pressure test and make sure your fuel pump and pressure regulator are working properly. Have you changed your fuel filter.
I would ohm your temperature sensor at about 70 degrees and ask to ohm a new one at the parts store. |

for the love of god get rid of the damn thing!! i will tell you right now that this is the beginning... it will get way worse. 99 was a bad year for that car. i ended up replacing EVERYTHING under the hood in mine... and i'm not kidding. so get rid of it while you still can even if you have to take a loss on it.
