Which mods have you found to be most beneficial?

For those of you with 98 GSR motors, aside from i/h/e, what kind of mods have you done nd which have you found to have the most gains?

other than those mentioned, its not really worth it to get anything else. just build up the internals and boost it or na tune it.

What about a pulley kit or cam gears? Do you have a VAFC hooked up?

internals.
nothing can beat the power of a nice set higher compression pistons...and some new sleeves...rods...
i would definately say internals...the harder it is, most likely the more power you are going to get...and pistons aren't easy...

The basics...

The tires and intake will make the most immediately-attainable difference. The stock exhaust on the GS-R is actually quite good, and next-to-no gains will be met until the engine's internals have been replaced or the engine is being boosted. If you're looking to put a B18C into your car, I wouldn't even start the motor with the stock exhaust of the Civic CX!

If you're looking for a kick-ass all-motor monster, think along these lines:

1. Tires. No more Michelin! Ever!
2. Intake (10? hp regained from the awful stock box)
3. Exhaust, headers (2.5in pipe) and port-matching the new headers (will actually hurt you until you get to the valvetrain)
4. Intake Camshaft from B18C5 (ITR) and cam gears (supposedly 16hp)
5. lighter rods, lighter, high-compression pistons, 2 more crank balancers (varies greatly)
6. valvetrain (springs, valves, sleeves, rehoned seats)
7. fuel pump, fuel rail, fuel pressure regulator, bigger injectors. you WILL NEED these to avoid exploding after step 7.
8. ECU (extend fuel map to 12,000 rpm, raise redline to ~10,000)
9. Either a new intake manifold or a completely reworked GS-R manifold (port matched on the head)
10. wider wheels. size specs are very much a preference thing. Just get something with so much patch-on-the-ground that you can't chirp anymore.
11. Rebuild tranny. Get 2nd, 3rd gears, final drive, LSD, synchros (all gears!!) from an ITR. Make SURE the synchros are perfect.

This will cost a ton of money ($5000 or more), but that should put a B18C in the range of 250-275hp to the wheels. Pulling high 11's in the quarter and a flat 5.0 on 0-60. Best part is, it will still be peaceful enough for a daily driver (provided you didn't put completely insane pistons in on step 5!).

Oh yeah... Don't forget a new clutch, flywheel, and suspension somewhere in there. whoops

"HONDATA"

Without management/tuning you will not and shall not get maximum performance out our your engine. WORD!

Check out their site www.hondata.com

Even NA stock engines are pushing hard gaining more hp and torque than some of your mods combined (i.e. i/h/e)

I couldn't have done it w/o hondata. I wouldn't have believed it if i didnt see it for myself.
