Angry Shift KR and PE/WOT KR

i've been dealing with this for the longest time. my mods are as follows:
3.4" pulley
ported front and rear manifolds
m15 alky nozzle
DHP PCM
AFC2.2 with scanner
happy knob with 19-20* of advanced timing
3"DP->2.5" to the stock "Y" split and stock mufflers
[email protected]
4"FWI
180* T-Stat

im in the process of running the car w/o the s/c belt and see if i get any KR. but for now, is this a pcm issue or an item hitting the engine, or real KR? a local member lowered my torque management and lowered my PE throttle from 405 to 35%. i have new OEM lower engine mount and poly-upper dog-bone mounts with a flipped front sway bar. i still get burst KR and shift KR. what happens is the knock will dwindle back down to zero which i can understand being false, but i cant figure out where its coming from.

Re: Shift KR and PE/WOT KR

it varies it seems. if im rolling anywhere from 40-75 then floor it, i'll get a spike at least, 5* then as i continue to floor it it'll drop count back to 0, then when i shift into 3rd gear, it'll spike a quick bit then count back to 0 again. O2s are fine within the 930-940 range. i tested ranges lower than those and got constant and consistant KR. My alky turn on is set at 2.5-3#. my LTFT's are either locked in at 0 or -0.8.

edit-im thinking its something within the tables of the PCM. alocal member lowered my torque management values to see if it helps, but not as much. im thinking its something to do with the acceleration enrichment and spark tables. the car doesnt have the supplied fuel or spark whenever the engine commands it and lags a bit to catch up, even with the alky(washer fluid), i dont understand why it's not enough.

edit2-i took off my s/c belt and ran the car at WOT. no KR showed up throughout the entire process. i doubt its a physical thing hitting within the engine bay.

Re: Shift KR and PE/WOT KR

Removing the SC belt probably doesn't prove much since on a normally aspirated SII 3800 since KR really isn't an issue. Doesn't look like false knock either. The spike to 5 degrees is concerning but not bad. But with Alky it should be lower.

First question I have is why are you running Autolite 103s? Thats a cold plug for a 3.4" pulley. Is fuel system pressure within specs? Do you have access to another similar re-programmed PCM module? I worked with a local GP member a few years ago with similar KR indications and found the knock sensor module he received in the DHP PCM was flaky.

Re: Shift KR and PE/WOT KR

in regards to the AL103 i was in the process of installing the 3.3"pulley and lower timing to about 18-19*. Fuel pressure should be within specs. Although im still running on the stock OEM fuel pump, my O2s(930-940) and Injector Pulse Widths(w/current mods 18-19IPWs) arent dropping at WOT as it hold up. i could post a recent scan:
http://www.scandepot.net/viewscan.php?pk=3036
here Burst KR isnt present since i eased into at a higher speed, but comes up when it upshifts.

the knock sensor module in the PCM, are you referrring to the Knock Recovery rate?

Re: Shift KR and PE/WOT KR

also if i remain with the 3.4 should go back to AL104 and have them gapped smaller than 0.40 or a larger gap like a 0.45?

I would go with 0.45 on the 104s.

Re: Shift KR and PE/WOT KR

ok i have them all regapped at 0.045. 2 of them seemed to be a bit higher at 0.048-0.049. my thoughts would be is if the plugs are colder, that it might be causing my shift and burst KR?
