Okay, a possibly stupid question. I'm fitting a replacement stereo in a 1996 Convertible Sebring that I just purchased, the old stereo had been stolen and the cables are a mess.
Working from the allpartsdiy.com and hayes guides, I've been able to identify what cable is what and where they should connect to. My problem is, that the front speakers are not recieving any sound. Looking at the cable diagrams, it seems that the front speakers in this model are fed via a power amp. The only problem is, I have no idea where the power amp should be. I'm thinking that if I can even locate the wiring connectors for the power amp then I can connect the stereo out to the speaker feed directly and bypass it. So, two questions: Where would the power amp be located? Where would the cable feed for this be? Any, and all help would be extremely appreciated. Thanks Seri P.S. All the guides on how to fix a flickering/intermittently lit dash were a great help, that was one job I've managed to tick off the list already. |

For those others who may find themselves in the same position I was in. The location of the power amplifier on a 96 Sebring Convertible is underneath the front passenger seat.
To remove the power amplifier from the equation and simply use a powered stereo, you need to bridge certain pin locations in the socket that the power amplifier would usually plug into. Hope this helps someone else some day. Seri |
