gearing and weight play a vital roll in racing from, well a roll. its all power to weight, gearing of course factoring into weight here. a gto is upwards of 4k if im not mistaken, which puts you at a HUGE disadvantage!!! remember 100lbs=roughly 1/10 in the 1/4...so 1000lbs would equal nearly a full second. which means you need significantly more power to overcome. weights being equalled, power being equalled, its in the tranny. the z4-m is avialiable wiht a couple different trannies so its impossiable to tell exactly which one, but i still find several cars somewhat tough if he actually decided to gun it.

on a side note, i would love to see one of those z4-m's. they are pretty cool

Actually its only available in a manual, no SMG or automatic available. These are the ratios according to BMW USA-

Transmission
Standard transmission ratios - I/II:1 4.35/2.50

III/IV:1 1.67/1.23

V/VI/R:1 1.00/0.85/3.93

Final drive ratio 3.62 :1

and if im not mistaken the new z4mclass is a low 13 second car stock, with well over 300hp.

it really doesnt sound like you could have pulled him that hard
I weight more like 2800 lbs with driver
I was making 318 whp and 343 tq from 2800 rpm all the way to redline when I first got the turbo probably a little less now.

the z4 M-coupe weights 3,300 lbs and has 330 hp @ 7900 rpm at the crank and 269 lb- ft of torque @ 4900 rpm (oh by the way you are right on their 1/4 mile, is 13.4 @ 105 mph)

SO I still dont see why you doubt about me pulling on him.
Why would I post in this forum if it wasn't true...

Musashi I will like to go to the autox let me know....

Re: M-coupe got own

I don't doubt your kill. I believe the new 3.2L M3 engine is rated at 333hp. I don't see how a GTI that is making over 300whp wouldn't beat one, being lighter, and pumping out more horsepower. I know Danno beat a newer M3 from a roll in his stock GTO.

I dunno, I don't see M3's running all that fast. They definitely can corner really well, but they are not really a drag race machine.

dude no offense but your car does not weigh 2800 pounds with driver. The car itself weighs 50 pounds less than my jetta, so you car weighs about 2950 by itself, and you weigh more than I do and I weigh 115 so I'm gonna guess you are about 140-160 so that makes your car 3090 assuming you are at the lower spectrum and plus those heavier rims you have on probably weigh over 20 pounds each so your GTI weighs more than you think it does, but anyways good kill and I hope you get unbanned soon.

wow dude....pretending to be someone else to try to post here is a big no no, especially when you type the same way. Youre a nice guy I dont know why you had that argument with the mod but whatever. And also I'm not even going to correct you on some of those weight calculations and let this thread die. But just so you know, there isnt 20 pounds to be taken off from each bumper cause the bumpers dont even weigh 20 pounds, unless you shaved off alot of metal from your frame, which shouldnt be done.
