How to change spark plugs

Anybody knows how to change the spark plugs on 2001 Protege with a 2.0 liter engine? The Owners Manual doesn't seem to explain that.

Thanks.

Re: How to change spark plugs

I have a 99 so I don't know if it's the same. I imagine it is though. You have to remove the coil packs. They are bolted to the top of the valve covers and have what looks like the old style spark plug cable sticking down into the valve cover. Use compressed air and blow any debris out of the hole that the spark plug sits in. Make sure you spark plug adapter has the foam rubber inside it so that you can pull the plug out once it's loosened. They are in a bit of a pit. Check you plugs for abnormal build up or burn damage to ensure you don't have any unnoticed problems. Tighten the new plugs to about 14 psi. (check the torque spec - this is from memory). Reinstall the coil packs.
