Tranny work in a Ram?

The transmission went out on my 97 ram 1500 5.2L 4X4. 100 miles after a transfer case replacement. I have a totaled 98 durango, 5.2L 4X4. They both have 231D transfer cases and the same motors. The transmissions look the same, wire plugs in the same places and of the same type. Will the tranny out of the durango work in the ram? If not why or what do I have to change to make it work?

Re: Tranny work in a Ram?

As far as I know you will have a 44re in your Durango and a 46RE in the Ram. Make sure the pan looks exactly the same. There were some Durangos with 46RE's but they were uncommon.
