96' tracker rpm dropping when i hit clutch

every so often when i come to a stop and clutch the rpms drop very low, and sometimes the car dies. this is really a problem because i live on a mountain and when the motor dies so does the power steering, braking, etc and more than once ive almost went off the side. i really need to get this problem fixed. i have heard that this is an egr problem. does anybody know if there is a do it yourself fix or any advice? ive heard about just bypassing the egr alltogether.

Re: 96' tracker rpm dropping when i hit clutch

First clean the metal egr tube that runs from the egr valve downward, its a fairly large tube, and take off the egr valve, clean it and its passages. Then take off the intake tube, prop open the throttle butterfly and then you have to use a light and its hard to see back in there and contort yourself over the engine, but there are 2 ports kinda high and on the backside of the chamber in there. the one on the upper left you may not even be able to see, as it will be gunked over and full of carbon/sludge. use a number 2 phillips and if you cant see it probe around till you can clean it out, then take a #3 phillips and do the same. bet your problem will largly be solved.
