Durnago Tranny in an Ram?

The transmission went out on my 97 ram 1500 5.2L 4X4. 100 miles after a transfer case replacement. I have a totaled 98 durango, 5.2L 4X4. They both have 231D transfer cases and the same motors. The transmissions look the same, wire plugs in the same places and of the same type. Will the tranny out of the durango work in the ram? If not why or what do I have to change to make it work?

Best way to find out is stop by local salvage yard while they are not busy and ask, most are happy to answer your question. from what I can find there where 3 trans used for your truck, 42RE, 46RE, 47RE, and the same where used on the Durango. hope this helps.
