What does evreyone think?

I have been discussing in the Pontiac Grand Prix section about my Jeep and GTP..The GTP is said to run high 14's with no mods...With w/r like back seat taken out, spare tire and jack, and my 50lb receiver does anyone think I can pull off a high 14 second run in my Jeep....

Re: What does evreyone think?

Go to the track and find out.

Sorry to sound so blunt, but that's really the only way to really know. We can garage race all day but untill you get on the track and get a timeslip, then you'll never really know.

I would doubt you would see any realy difference taking that stuff out on a vehicle that weighs well over 4000lbs.

Re: What does evreyone think?

Hmm, my bad. I just googled it a 4020lbs. Thought I had heard before that they were around 4600-4700lbs. Even still I don't think you would see much difference. However, if you want to go for it than by all means do so and report back.

Re: What does evreyone think?

you should be able to. i mean awd launch (brake & tq method) and you should be able to. its not impossible. a stock 2004 gc, is a mid 15. so i think with taking out the rear seats should be able to. go to the track and go for it. i think finding some lightwieght rims for the jeep(even though it wouldnt be 'jeep' culture)would help you tremedously.

Re: What does evreyone think?

I think for every 100 pounds taken off the car your 1/4 time gets a tenth of a second quicker

Re: What does evreyone think?

^^ Far too broad of a statement. What does the car weigh originally? How much hp does it have? How much tq does it have? It makes a difference.

Re: What does evreyone think?

I guess that v8 and the beginning of the newer version gc bumps it up a couple hundred pounds. The sticker on my 98 gc with the 4.0L six says it weighs at 3800.

Re: What does evreyone think?

Actually, I wouldn't be suprised if you could. Didn't you run real close with an IS300? They run somwhere between 15.1-15.4, so if you were able to pull on him, I wouldn't be suprised if you could get into the ultra high 15s.

Yeah, the Lexus never put more than 3/4 length on me from a 70 roll to 110....

you meant ultra high 14's, right?

you're right but what he said is regarded as a rule of thumb, just like every 100lbs of weight is said to equal 10hp. it's not written in stone but it's a guideline many people go buy.

i tend to think high 14's might be a little optimistic, i suppose it's possible though.
