92 Legacy Help

Good Afternoon,

I am new to the forum and I have a few questions about the Legacy that we just bought.

First, this is the first Subaru that I have owned and I am not familiar with the car. We bought the car from my brother-in-law who got it at an auction. There is no owners manual in the car and there is a button that I am not sure what it does. It says Height, when you push the button it does nothing. But when the car is on the button has a light on. Can someone tell me what this button is for.

Next, we are in our thirty days so that we can get it Maryland Inspected and I was reading somewhere that it will not pass inspection if there are any holes in the body that exhaust can get into the car. Well there is a hole on the passenger side just above the wheel well and it has rust on it. My main concern is it not passing inspection. I would like to know if there is something that we can do to fix the hole ourselves. Like Bondo or something.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
Thembi

Re: 92 Legacy Help

That button raises the front of the car by a few inches thanks to the air shocks. You should be able to hear the pump going, or notice a bit of a difference while parked.

Most places require no holes in the body in order to pass. Cut out all the rust, sand and stick some fiberglass and bondo in there. Read up online if your brave enough to this yourself, but Id just take it to a shop.

Re: 92 Legacy Help

Thank you very much, the car was running fine but now something is going on. The car keeps running hot so now we have a new problem to check out. Thanks for the advice on the Bondo thing. I am going to research and see if I can do it myself and if not I will take it to a shop.

Thanks again!
Thembi
