1999 Tahoe P0301

Have replace engine with 1999 Escalade vin R, it is so close its driving me nuts, had code P1345 and found post by GMMERLIN (genious) and took mirror and found bent pin, now its throwing P0301, tried to have it set on computer but he couldn't probably because of the bent pin that is now fixed, talked to mech and he thinks off about 45deg retarded, question is can I take it back by one tooth or do I have to have it hooked up to his computer, also fuel pressure is about 52psi at idle an 62psi when pedal depressed, should I replace fuel pump first- could this be throwing the P0301 misfire.
Thanks for any Help in advance
Bob

Bent pin where? 301 is a #1 misfire code, does it run rough can you feel a miss? 45 degrees retarded would't run, timing I assume? Lots of info missing here.

Re: 1999 Tahoe P0301

The bent pin was behind the dist. at the cam position sensor, got that fixed per GMMERLIN's earlier post-- the P0301 is happening after the pin was straightened and hooked back up, found tonight the starter was arcing(found the solinoid on the starter was bad and replaced)- Got back to the aftermarket dist. and when getting ready to remove after putting a paint mark on the housing; gently pressed on the rotor and it rotated about 1/2 in. clockwise- is this normal

Re: 1999 Tahoe P0301

Rhino: Welcome to the forum. What's an "aftermarket dist"??

As far as timing it has to be done with a high end scan tool that can get you to the CMP retard mode. In this mode timing has to be set at 0 +/- 1 or 2 degs.

1/2 inch displacement on the rotor pushing down or pulling up sounds to me like the dist isn't seated properly or??

As far as the misfire go back to the basics. Plug, wire, rotor, cap.

Re: 1999 Tahoe P0301

Thanks looking at that now we tried to go counter clockwise against maxwedge's suggestion (and it wouldn't fire off like he said) --but had to cure my curiousity because this thing is driving me nuts, I moved it back and waiting for comp to clear any codes (and drinking a 12oz.). Hopefully we didn't have seated properly because we know it is now.
Thanks
