Question about Aftermarket CD Players
I have just bought new subs and now need to get rid of my stock CD player. Can anyone recommend a good cd player for around 200 dollars that will give me the best hit out of my subs?

Re: Question about Aftermarket CD Players
if you want the best "hit" out of your subs, you should be looking for a proper amp, not a head unit. a HU will provide sound clarity, turning data into a spectrum of sound via drivers.
anyway, good HU companies i'll recomend are Alpine, Clarion, and Eclipse.

Re: Question about Aftermarket CD Players
I like Pioneer basically for the price. Not as good as the ones Vinny listed, but I like em.

Re: Question about Aftermarket CD Players
^in the end, it really should be a compromise b/w quality and appeal. I bought a high end Kenwood. It was not only because it was a good product, but out of what i was looking at, at the time, it felt the most comfortable to use, and most appealing.

Re: Question about Aftermarket CD Players
truthfully ..... I doubt 99% of the people out there could tell the difference between a $100 dual and $400 Eclipse or Alpine Headunit. Mostly because the speakers have to be installed in the right places and the equipment has to be tweaked to get the most out of it. The car is a harsh environment for sound quality. I would say unless you are into sound comps and REALLY know what you are listening for, the 2 things that really matter are looks and features.

Re: Question about Aftermarket CD Players
i'll agree partly, but some lower end HU's like Jensen and Dual are also poorly made, as in frequent skipping, durability issues with a mechanical faceplate, etc...

I guess it can make a difference when the car is moving ..... and the skipping thing is why I have always liked Alpines

Re: Question about Aftermarket CD Players
Alright thank you all for your help. I did some searching and I found these four: An Eclipse ECE CD6000 ($550), a Pioneer DEH 7800MP ($480), a Sony CDX-F7005X ($170), and a Dual for around $120. Someone told me that the Eclipses 8 watt pre-out would help my speakers hit a little harder. Is there any truth behind this? If not then which would be the best one to go with?

Re: Question about Aftermarket CD Players
no the 8 volt pre amp outlets are for amps usally the higher they go the less chance of distoration you get. i would go with the pioneer but if you are using an amp i would not go lower then 4 volts on the preamp outlets

Re: Question about Aftermarket CD Players
Like Paul said, just get one that has features that you want. The amp has more to do with your speakers "hitting"

Re: Question about Aftermarket CD Players
Ok well i just had everything installed today(2 solabarics 15" L7s and a ZX 1500.1) and they aren't hitting near as loud as they should be. Is the problem that I still have a stock cd player? If not then what else could it be?

Re: Question about Aftermarket CD Players
is the amp running from ur HU? a friend of mine had a stock deck with no preouts and ran the amp from his rear 6x9's...? i'm not sure how he did that, but it worked (...terribly, but it worked)

Re: Question about Aftermarket CD Players
well, you CAN just tap off of the rear speakers and put those wires straight into the hi level input of the amp - or even cap those new wires and put RCA plugs on them. Biggest problem here is that if the amp has no lo-pass filter it's gonna sound bad.
