I was at my local speed shop today and I saw this and thought about the Xterra suspension/steering setup.
Has anyone looked into modifying one of these kits for the Xterra setup? I know that they have Upper and Lower tubular control arm kits, partially welded for all of you that are having difficulty getting your truck aligned properly. All you'd need to do is cut the control arms to the right size and of course weld them together. I cant picture this setup not being strong enough, Its Comp Engineering. These parts are meant for 1000hp 7 second 1/4 mile race cars, I'm sure that it would be strong enough for a 4500lb. truck flexing a bit. No reason to buy a kit and hack it up when you can buy the heim joints, threaded inserts and some tubing, and build it from scratch. ClimberRN did that, had some problems, changed it a bit and it's looking OK. Just waiting for some long term testing information from him.
The main problem is the amount of angle the heim joints can take, it's usually not as much as a ball joint.
