Re: New Car New Problems

I would bet money that it's the fuel pump. I had the same EXACT problem on my 03 spec. Thankfully it was covered under my warranty. On the subject of problems... I don't know if you have researched your car at all yet, but there are a few more issues with the spec v to adress:

1st thing you need to do is crack open your intake manifold. There are butterfly screws on the inside that are sooo notorious for being sucked up into engine and ruining it instantly. Remove the screws, locktite them, and put them back in.

2nd thing you need to do is order a balance shaft assembly removal kit. The balance shaft spins at twice the speed of your engine to eliminate minor vibrations. When taken out, people say there is pretty much no difference in the feel of the car other than the 8 hp gain . I've been told that the bearing can break apart and get sucked into your engine.

3rd thing that needs to be taken care of is the pre-cat. The header has a precatalytic converter on it. The insides love to burn up and fly into your engine. I had mine replaced at 75k miles because it was also under warranty. You need to pick up a catless header and instal it on your car. Unfortunately they cost 3-4 hundred dollars. Save for a hotshot which is around 400+ dollars. It gives you the best gains. 16-20whp I believe.

Other than that... get a CIA because the sound by istelf is just awesome.

Anyway... your spec v reguardless of the problems is a hell of a lot better than your old cavi. Have fun with it.

Re: New Car New Problems

tach signal is read off the ignition timing from the cam position sensor thru the ECU, so its either wiring, the guage itself, or the sensor or ECU.

Re: New Car New Problems

sounds to me like your crankshaft position sensor. did it throw on a service engine soon light? your tach is ran off of your crankshaft position sensor and it will have trouble starting like that (mine has that problem as we speak). there was just a recall in august or something like that for that sensor. take i to the dealer and ask if the recall was done. i'm not sure what the recall entails, because i haven't had time to look into it, but that is most likely the problem.
