Re: what to look for on ebay

I haven't personally purchased a vehicle on eBay, but have done a lot of research and looked at hundreds and possibly thousands of listings over the years. The first thing I would look at would be the seller's feedback, how they conduct business on the site. You want a seller who has done a few and has generally positive (over 98% positive) feedback. Read some of the comments left by the buyers to get an idea. You also could get an idea of the vehicle's worth before looking on eBay to know how good of a deal it is. If you have access to a service like CarFax, you could run the VINs to see how the vehicle is. eBay has services and tutorials to help vehicle buyers who purchase vehicles on their site from "how to buy" to financing, shipping, and protection after the sale. Browse through the site to see what is offered under eBay Motors. Also it helps to do business with a buyer who accepts PayPal or other secure forms of payment, so you won't get scammed and lose money by sending payment and not getting the vehicle.

Re: what to look for on ebay

I personally wouldn't buy a car/put down a single cent without having checked the car out myself. It's easy to find great deals on Ebay, I have a friend from work that bought a 2003 Acura CL Type-S for $13,000 on Ebay the guy lived like 20 mins from him and he went to check the car out and everything was fine with it and then took the car to a mechanic and body shop of his choice. They said that car was in fantastic shape so he bought it...but I just couldn't imagine slappin' down some money on a car that I'd only seen a couple pics of.

Re: what to look for on ebay

where would i find the tutorials? thanks for the tips, i wish i lived closer to the coast so i could possibly check stuff out but i liv in the midwest - far from the 240sx's listed so checing them out is a bit hard. i am lookin for one that is completly stock so it wont be too expensive ($1500 - $2000 at most) but shipng rates suck, it costs as much to pay for shipoing as it does the fricken car, i plan on droping a sr20det motor in it soon anyway so im not to worried about how well it runs except for the fact that it is a reliable car anyway. thanks

Re: what to look for on ebay

flying there will be cheaper then shipping it which is roughly 1500. so if you can't drive then fly becuase there has been many people that have been burned from a car from ebay.
