Engines?
I order to try and breath some life back in here I want to know what engine you guys would suggest for a street application for an electric car. I want a good amount of speed but descent battery life as well. I guess this would also be a good time to ask about transmissions as well.

In my TC3 rally I have a Trinity D4 14double. Gives enough power for nice 4 wheel drifts and can get reasonable run time out of it with some ok-ish cells.
IMO the D4 is one of the best Modified Motors I have owned.

For decent speed and run time, I'rd suggest anything from a 15turn to 17turn.
Also get some 2000 cells or higher. Though 3000's require a better charger. Also I'm not quite sure by what you mean about transmissions? what kind of r/c car do you run? Then I can help you out more. sarujin

What ESC do you have? You need to know that before anything else.

Well you see that is the trick. I don't have any of the parts yet. I am just trying to figure out what I want to build this little project since I don't have the time or money to play with my real car right now. I'll have to look at Tower to see what speed control I want. The only cars I really have right now are some OLD Tyco 9.6v cars. They move pretty well for being Tyco. :silly2:

Well, look up an ESC called Futaba 330 (something like that). It's about 70 bucks, has reverse, and can handle 15+ turns (something like that
). After that you will know what motors you can use.

Okay you don't have a car yet, so what can i suggest.
I'rd probably suggest either a Tamiya car (budget in mind), or something from HPI. There is also Team Associated, and Losi. Just start out with a Stock Motor (27turn), then you can learn to drive. Once you've had it awhile get a faster motor. Oh and for a speed control, get something that can handle unlimited motors, it'll be expensive now. But in the long run it will be cheaper, as you will not need to ever buy another one. sarujin

Oh, I know how to drive them. I have had better electrics in the past I have just sold them off, unfortunatly my last one had a slight mishap and won't be racing anymore.
