99 ranger v6 oil pressure

runs great but oil pressure guage shows no pressure at all for a couple of miles then pops up 1/2 way between H and L which is where it is always at motor runs and sounds great no noise or smoke ??????

had the same type of thing with my ranger, sometimes i had pressure ,other times none . turned oyt to be in the connections at the rear of the dash. i put another dash in but it still persisted. so i finally put in a mechanical guage and now even when my dash shows nothing at times the master guage shows 50 p.s.i.

You can try a new sending unit they don't cost to much. Otherwise put in a mechanical gage. They work on resistance try grounding the wire and see if the gage pegs.
