No power to rear wheels on my Bravada
OK I have a 94 with 217k on it! Runs like a top. I pulled the front driveshaft to do the ujoints and figured I could just drive it with the shaft off for the day. Umm.. got nothing to the rear wheels. No noise or anything ever came from the transfer case. What gives? Or gave I should say.

Re: No power to rear wheels on my Bravada
Maybe it has a center diff? Those are full time 4wd ? right? If you look underneath the front yoke is spinning ?

Re: No power to rear wheels on my Bravada
It's actually called AWD. No selector for the awd. The front yoke does spin. Just when I pull the front shaft the rear doesn't engauge.

Re: No power to rear wheels on my Bravada
Well now that's a kicker. I know on the old 4X4 full time the right rear and the left front pulled in 2 HI and you could take the drive shaft out of the front and run them but on the AWD and the day of the computer on board maybe that has something to do with it.

Re: No power to rear wheels on my Bravada
It probably has a center diff of some sort and needs to have the front yoke stopped or hooked up. (If it does not have some sort of locker)
It is just like jacking up one wheel and seeing the other wheel not driving. |

Re: No power to rear wheels on my Bravada
Well your Bravada has a BW 4472 transfer cae that has whats called a viscous coupleing inside that is a completely sealed and non servicable unit, so changing the oil wont help, its what splits the power for the AWD system,35% front and 65% rear, i have a 92 GMC Typhoon that has the same AWD system but with a turbocharged 4.3L V6, and mine has 163K miles and mine will do the same thing, basically you need to either find a new transfer case, get yours rebuilt, or get a good used one. BTW The viscous coupling can still be had new from GM for about 600 bucks, and then the rest of the transfer case can be rebuilt for about 2-300 bucks in parts.
