Re: hesitation 89 park avenue

Yes i replaced the balancer.....it couldnt have rotated because its the slip on balancer with the key way on it.I didnt replace the crankshaft sensor though and i thought i had it aligned right but maybe it was rubbing on the new balancer.Good news to hear that it would run hotter if the sensor isnt reading right i had thought the transmission was screwed.I will change out the crank sensor and see what happens...thats probally what it is.Thanks everyone for the help.

Re: hesitation 89 park avenue

No problem, whien mine "broke" (more like got vandalized) it drove me crazy and wasn't throwing the MIL to report a problem.

It's a good probability that's it. Post the result to confirm if it is so anyone searching later on down the road can use this thread to help them.

Re: hesitation 89 park avenue

Boy!
I would have replaced that sensor... such a job without a swap but its also about $60...and such a difficult troubleshoot sometimes.

Just of note some new sensor brands have higher failure rates.

Bosh is recommended around here, but I dont want to go political.

OH yah.. an added note.. someone recommended putting a rubber band around the vanes and set the sensor for clearance.. then put the key back in. I havent done the job but sounded like a good idea..

Good Luck

Re: hesitation 89 park avenue

Well problem is finally solved.I went to replace the crankshaft sensor and my balancer was cracked.I dont know if i torqued too much when installing the balancer or it was a defect but i guess it got wobbley and destroyed the sensor.I replaced the sensor and got another balancer and all is well now except now i have to fix my exhaust where i cut the catalytic converter off.I used a fueller gage and on the sensor and rotated the crank at 3 diffrent points to make sure the gap was correct on the sensor. So hopefully i wont have any more problems with the balancer.Hope the car running hot those few times didnt do any damage but i do plan on replacing my 02 sensor like suggested. Thanks for the help Wright that was a lifesaver!!!!

Re: hesitation 89 park avenue

Cool beans

Use a hydromter ($2 now a days) and check the protection level of the coolant. If it's been a while, might as well just flush the radiator anywho for the winter

Also pull the stick for the transmission and check the fluid condition, if the motor got hot, the trans fluid does too as the cooler is in the engine radiator. But trans fluid damage usually occurs after the motor has been highly overheated. Although, better safe than sorry ya know?
