1941 chevrolet master deluxe

not sure if anyone here does the old cars, but i recently bought a 1941 chevy 2 door master deluxe town coupe. i basically need to know everything. where can i get replacement parts and manuals? where can i decode the vin number off the engine? i have the vin plate from the body, but its too pitted out to read. if i decide to swap out engines, what size motor should i replace it with? i've done about as much research as i can with the numbers i have....any help would be appreciated.

I have not worked on cars quite that old but I can tell you best place to start for manuals would be Ebay. I have seen manuals from any era you could think of there. No better place period. You would be surprised at parts available as well. For paint codes you can research paint companies, some of whom will list "vintage" colors used for each year as far back as 30-40's. Also I would check internet for vintage auto clubs. Sorry could not be more help.

Re: 1941 chevrolet master deluxe

eBay is an excellent source as stated above, I have found manuals on amazon.com, and half.com. These sites sell used ones as well as manufacturers' overstock and discontinued items. You could also try within this site the "Muscle Car Forum' where they have a sub-forum titled "Restoration", and the forum "Cars in General" is also a possible source for info. Owning a classic car myself and doing the restoration, I have found another valuable resource, Hemmings Motor News. This is a book that comes out monthly and is filled with classified ads , and ads from all sorts of companies that deal with old cars, parts, and restoration supplies, and more. If you go to their website www.hemmings.com you can sign up for a free trial issue of the magazine to see if you like it and can get the info you need from it. Good luck with your search!
