Re: unknown stalling problem
okay so it happened again, and I have more information.
After a long drive, i parked. 15 minutes later i started back up, put it into reverse, and the rpms dropped, and then raised. and it was very unstable, and the rpms were up and down. I managed to back up without stalling, and put it into drive and pressed the gas. After that, the idle was high. I didnt have to step on the gas at all. It stayed like that for the whole drive. Any suggestions?

Re: unknown stalling problem
do you have an aftermarket cruise control? or a remote start?if so disconnect them and see if it still happens? If that doesn't do it try the tps sensor even spray the throttle cable with some oil
see if that works |

Re: unknown stalling problem
i have both. Its not the remote start because the starter isnt kicking in or anything... And i dont think its the cruise control because when the switch is off, it gets no power. I think it has something to do with a sensor itself. And I dont think it has to do with the throttle cable either. =/

Re: unknown stalling problem
it may be a guess on my part but i wouldnt rule it out...check your injectors to see what kind of ohms they are pulling...using the ohm meter each one should ohm out to around 12.0-12.3, lower is alright but higher means that it is not working as it should...mine did that for a short period of only 1 week and it took me 2.5 weeks to figure it out
with the help of a local mechanic...its not hard to do and not very time consuming so i would check so that you could rule that out

Re: unknown stalling problem
I had a car that was doing that. It wasent a cavalier but it was a Honda Civic. The problem that it was, was the Engine Coolant Tempature Sensor. So take a look at that and see if it is faulty. Once I replaced mine didn't have anymore problems with it.
Hope this helps |
