strange clunk sound

sometimes i hear this strange clunking sound coming from my driveline. it sounds like its coming from the rear, but i cant really tell. it usually happens if i go from engine breaking to accelerating, or when i shift. it seems like the slight jerk or force from doing either of those things causes it. pretty weird. it doesnt always happen, but it just seems like something in my driveline is incorrect or broken. it could have something to do with my manual conversion, as im not totally sure if i have an ABS driveshaft or not. would an abs driveshaft even fit in a none ABS car? im pretty confused here. ideas pleaseeee

Re: strange clunk sound

I'd check your driveshaft for play or diff for fluid, etc.

you sound like you're pretty sure about that. the rear end as in the subframe? those sound like a bitch to replace.

Re: strange clunk sound

Might as well replace the U-joints while you have the driveshaft loose and the diff out. Sounds like as good a time as any!
