Camaro motor swap

I am new to the chevy forum, so dont be too mean to me right away.

My buddy just bought a 2001 v6 Camaro. I would love to drop in a stroked 350 with a hydromatic 350 and a manual valve body (I love american cars). I have only done engine swaps on imports though. I dont have great access to a fabrication shop, but what I'm really worried about is electricals. Airbags, injectors, mass airflow sensors, o2 sensors, all that seems like a nightmare to get working even close to right. Is it even worth the mess, or should i look for my own project car?

Thanks for the help guys.

Re: Camaro motor swap

Its alot of work and a wiring nightmare. I would either have him trade it in for a V8 or mod it with current engine. The 3.8's are a very strong motor, they can have some power made with some tweaking.

Re: Camaro motor swap

i did a total rebuild on a 3800, helped swap one for an ls1 and was doing one on my old rs before i destroyed i. let me be the first to tell u it was alot of money. my car took 5 months...that was getting all the parts i needed, building the ls1 to the way i wanted it, and fabricating shit. about 6-7 grand later the car got totaled the week we were gonna drop the engine and tranny...go figure. now my boy did it the cheapest and easy way. he got a doner z28 for 3k..guy had a beat up body with a working moter and tranny (it was a drag car..shell with a moter. we rolled both cars into the shop, got them both up on a lift, droped the k member on both cars with the moter still on it, and tranny...it took 4 of us, took off the brake lines breaks, hell everything. and swaped it all onto his car. 3 days for the swap, about a month worth of working out small shit (but he was driving it). its all if u want to spend the money or just buy the car with what u want on it already. i had the money and the time, and i liked my rs alot so i was willing to do all the work. my boy didnt want to spend that kind of money and he didnt have the time to do all of that so he found a quicker cheaper way. so pick your poison lol
