'86 Lincoln Conti. AIR SUSPENSION
Most recently I've encountered a low air ride system problem. Either due to a faulty Compressor dryer assembly or something else.
My question is once I replace the compressor, is there any pattern recommended for the air lines to be put back IN ORDER or in sequence? I tried to match them from the old compressor to the new one as close as possible. But I still have a low rider, without air ride suspension. Also, should I have just swaped out the old compressor without checking the cars computer first? |

Re: '86 Lincoln Conti. AIR SUSPENSION
Are you sure it's the compressor?
When this system fails, usually the air chambers (air springs) start leaking (not the compressor).... they do wear out after approx 100k miles. The system is designed ( I think) so the compressor does not pump air continuously if there is a major leak, so it will not be damaged. This may make you think the compressor is broken..... (but someone might want to add/correct my thinking here). |

Re: '86 Lincoln Conti. AIR SUSPENSION
I have sorta the same issue. My back end rises up and then sometimes it goes down after a few minutes, and the front end doesnt go up at all. there is a hissing sound coming from the back passenger side tire. Does anyone know if this is the bags...or the hoses? how could I wire a switch to them inside the car so i could lowere and raise it when i want? if any knows please let me know, thanks

The best way to find the leaks is with a soap/water solution on the suspected areas.
