Looking for attainable HP/TQ numbers on a b18c1 motor.
I'm looking for some numbers on a b18c1 motor concerning how much potential it has. I'd be looking to throw some money at this (maybe 8K?) to get a sweet motor, but I don't want to spend a lot of money for only 250hp
. I'd probably do turbo, injectors, cams, pistons, exhaust, re-bore cylinder, ect. but I don't know all I would need, and how strong the stock parts are.Would I need a new crank shaft and connecting rods if I was pushing like +350hp? How much is a new crank shaft worth, if they are available? What parts would get me the most performance increase, outside of a turbo? What is a reasonable HP/TQ figure for a motor built like this keeping it reliable for a while (3-5 years maybe, not drivin in the winter) 300, 350, 400?!?!! Thanks, Colin

Re: Looking for attainable HP/TQ numbers on a b18c1 motor.
with a GSR engine, like the one i have, the only way to make decent power is to boost it. I am making 275/194 at the wheels for less than $3000 but my setup isn't CARB legal and i dont have to pass emissions....if you have those stipulations, you'll spend a little more
The stock GSR engine is good for a safe 350whp on a GOOD setup and a GOOD computer/dyno tune. If you're going to cheap out on tuning or parts, then lower your goals. The stock PeakBoost turbo kit makes 343whp on a stock GSR engine at 9.5psi...that would be a good amount of power for less than $5000. Personally i'm building my engine to handle about 400whp daily. I'm just doing a basic rebuild...pistons, rods, bearings, headstuds and a solid turbo setup. There are a lot of people who, like me, swear by Honda parts...and stock ones at that. I plan on running the stock tranny, stock axles, stock head, stock crank, stock cams, etc on my new build. The stock crank is good for over 600whp as well. I know that people are going to argue w/ what i've said and nitpick my power numbers for a month, but i'll put it like this...the more power you ask of a stock engine, the better the chance its going to fail and that's something that you're going to have to either live with or deal with appropriately. Making anything up to 250whp on a GSR can be completely reliable on a decent setup, but to push 300whp and higher requires a good setup and no skimping on the tune. I can't emphasize that enough....THE TUNE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE BUILD!!!! If you have any questions, just PM me or add me on MSN or AIM [email protected] and 99turboDC2 on AIM
