1999 Jeep Power Steering Pump

My pump suddenly bled-out yesterday after 99K miles. I plan to replace it tonite and want to know if anyone knows of anything I should be aware of or has suggestions of how this project might go easier for me. I bought the jeep new 7 years ago and have had very few reasons to work on it.
Cherokee Sport; 6 cyl; 4WD; 4Dr; A/C.

Thanks,
John

Cool Re: 1999 Jeep Power Steering Pump

What? It bled out? Do you mean the fluid has leaked all the way out.
That usually happens when the high pressure hose leaks.
The pump rarely fails. (But it can happen.)

Get a new serpentine belt too...Its probably got fluid all over it.

Best regards.

The pump seal and bearings were bad. New pump + fluid = $120.00. Serpentine belt did have fluid sprayed onto it, but seems to be ok. Relatively easy replacement (just take the fan out FIRST!). New pump doesn't come with pulley, so that has to be pressed off/on. Bolts are metric.
