2003 Envoy SLT Power Mirrors Recall
Hey all,
First off, thanks for your help in this matter. Collectively, I hope to get this fixed. My power mirrors have a mind of their own, Specially the passenger side mirror. When I program my seat recall position and unlock the car, the mirror goes all wonky. I have gotten my memory control switch replaced. I have gotten the memory switch reprogrammed. I have replaced the mirror control switch. All of the above have cost me well over 1000 dollars. I am to the point where I want to just cut the wires to the power mirror. The shop foreman at my dealership says he can not fix it. That his Envoy does the same thing, and there is nothing I can do to fix it. If I want to keep paying money to trouble shoot what it could be or not, then I can, but he suggests I just put up with it. I am the second owner of this vehicle, and just bought it in March. It has been doing it ever since. One of the main buying features was that it had the programmable features for my wife and I. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, I have read on this board that you can add a navigation system to the 2003 envoy. Any further information in regards to this would also be appreciated. |

I'd make them all replace everything if it was covered under warreenty, but it is not, so I was hoping someone else had the same problem and got it to work. As for the refund, the dealership advised it is all diagnostic progress on what is wrong with it, so the cost for the diagnose still exists. It is not like the brakes are worn and new pads fix it. They do not know why it is doing it, and can't fix it so they are trying different things. I think I am just going to open up the mirror (it is the passenger mirror) and just cut the wire that powers it. That way it does not move and I can still use my memory seats. |

Re: 2003 Envoy SLT Power Mirrors Recall
Our power mirrors on our 02 Envoy have never worked. Even when you try to adjust them manually they don't work half the time. You simply have to roll down the window and adjust the mirror with you hand. To me having mirrors that have a "memory" feature sounds good when they work but that's the problem. My 01 S-10 has the basic mirrors where you have to adjust them with the window rolled down. Haven't seen those type of mirrors in years but it's a simple design, they don't cost a fortune and they never break.

But my Envoy is a 2003. It has a memory function, which is great when it works on all of the other memory featurs but the passenger mirror. Is it in my best interest to just cut the power wire to my passenger mirror to get it to work properly? |

Re: 2003 Envoy SLT Power Mirrors Recall
Have you tried another GMC dealership?? There has to be a GM tech out there that has solved the problem. I would expand your horizons a little.
On another note, I have never used my memory functions on my '02 Envoy at all. The power mirrors are whacked out, they go up and down and all over the place, no where how I want them whenever I try to use the memory feature. I did just pay $545.31 for my memory module to be replaced. Ironic - I never really used it! lol.

All they can think of is my mirror was a 2002 part instead of a 2003 part, and there is not exact fix for it. They all however offered to continue the diagnostic progress, at my cost of course. And no gaurantee it will fix it. |

Re: 2003 Envoy SLT Power Mirrors Recall
I don't get involved with our Envoy. This was my wifes choice for a new vehicle. Like I have said before, more "gimmicks" does not make a better car. I would try to do away with the memory function for the mirrors. This is pretty sad when a car company can't get this figured out. The one feature that I like on the Envoy is the heated seats. Would never be without them.
