Loud Squeeky Brakes

I know this is the Silverado page, but since I post here more often I figured I would ask you guys what you thought. This question is more general than specific.
I have a 94 Saturn SL. Everytime I would brake the peddal and sterling would shake really bad, so replaced the Front Rotors and Brakes (purchased parts and autozone). Now when I drive the car there is a noise comming from the brakes all the time, even when I am not using the brakes. This noise is very loud and not so much a high squel like what a bus would make, but a lower pitch still very loud, almost like a door squeek but constant. When I step on the brakes it stops very good, and there is no shaking in the wheel or pedal. I did notice when after my test drive the brakes started to smoke. Is that normal? I thought is was.
Any body have any idea what it could be or did I do something wrong?
FYI: there is no adjuster valve from what I can see either.

Re: Loud Squeeky Brakes

Disk brakes are always in contact with the rotor, but with very little pressure. It sounds like your brakes have too much pressure and it is like the brakes are constantly being applied. The reason you saw smoke is the brakes were applying pressure to the rotor the whole time you were driving and got very hot.

If you jack up the car and spin the wheel, does it spin freely or is there some resistance?

There should be an adjustment to compensate for this, but I am not sure where it is on a saturn. Also, most brakes have a self tenser to make sure this does not happen. So maybe there is a spring missing or broken in the assembly.

Re: Loud Squeeky Brakes

Well I found what the problem was. On the brakes themselves was a clip that was sticking out and rubbing against the wheel. It did not look like it was used for anything on my setup. So I snapped them off. and now.. it sounds and works great!!!
