Fujimi's "Motor Sports" Line

Hey Everybody! Happy Monday!

I'm happy because today I recieved in the mail a simple kit that I've been trying to track down for almost a decade (at a reasonable price)...

These are rad kits, from the last Fujimi Renaissance, when they seemed to still know what they were doing. It's the full road car ITR kit, plus a full tree of race car parts (including a very well-done race interior tub) and a photoetch harness set and a couple white metal hood and hatch pins. If you get a chance to land one, do it!

So, as always, a little bit of information just whets my appetite for more...

Anyone know what the rest of the line up in this series was? By everything I can find, it looks like everything in the series is long, long out of production. I know there were 4 Integra Type R kits, and I have two in hand:

MS-1 Gathers Integra Type R
...
MS-? TwinCam Integra Type R
MS-? A'pex Integra Type R
...
MS-8 Castrol Integra Type R

But that leaves at least four other spaces, assuming Fujimi didn't skip any numbers.

HLJ doesn't help. They only have the Gathers car listed (http://www.hlj.com/product/FUJ06211), but the usual HLJ trick of clicking on the series name to see the rest of the discontinued items fails because that kits is the only one in that series in their catalog.

Hobby Search doesn't list any of them.

I've spotted the other two on ebay and Y!Japan auctions from time to time, but almost always only the box front, which doesn't yield much info, despite the very pretty illustrations.

Were the Fujimi racing R32 kits in this set? Is there a big "MS-#" on the side of the boxes? Did they come with seatbelt parts, too? I haven't seen those in a LONG time either...

Thanks!!

Re: Fujimi's "Motor Sports" Line

I hope for your sake they do all include the cool details;
I bought a Fujimi HR31 Skyline GTS-R Calsonic Group A kit, and it turned up with a trick race interior tub to replace the crap stock interior, very nice roll cage, nice details like big brakes, 5 lug centrebolt hubs and suchlike. On the strength of that I ordered a Group A Starion, Group A Ricoh Racing HR31 GTS-R, Group A Trampio Sprinter - All of which consisted only of the stock road kit with slicks and race decals, no cages, nothing additional...

Are they close enough for you to check the line numbers on the short side of the boxes?

Re: Fujimi's "Motor Sports" Line

Update; Had a closer look at the instruction booklet - where it gives the kit description to order parts, it goes something like this:
- Group A GTS-R with the race interior = "1/24 TC SP Calsonic Skyline GTS-R"
-Group A GTS-R with just the decals = " 1/24 TC Ricoh Skyline GTS-R"

Starion and AE86 which are just the stock kit plus decals are the same, designated "TC" only.
I reckon the Hondas will all be close to the same as each other, sounds like they're the same kit with different decals, so most likely I would guess they all have the race interior.

Not on topic but some people might find it useful...
As for the Calsonic GTS-R Skyline, if anyone is wondering, its the "E" parts tree (comes split into two though), and consists of the following which is not in the standard kit:
-4x Mesh race centrelock wheels and slicks, with 5 "lug" holes bored in the back, 4 centrelock nuts (not on the parts tree, just the kit's wheels).
-4 5 "lug" hubs to fit the wheels to (really trick!)
-adaptors for the traditional fujimi axle/screws to the "hubs".
-Race seat
-Beautifully detailed 12 point roll cage
-Onboard fire extinguisher "bomb"
-Touring car boot locks (plastic)
-Bonnet pins (plastic)
-steering wheel
-Battery
-big four piston brakes x 4 (plastic, moulded as one unit)
-two dry brake fuel fillers.
-Interior tub (to suit R31, close fit for Aoshima DR30 also)

A lot of detailing parts really (though obviously not comprehensive). I'm going to order a few of the parts trees and wheels to use in other group A era vehicles and other HR31 Skyline race car projects, as there is a wealth of useful bits for modelling cars from that time, say 1983-1993.

HLJ lists those kits under Touring Car Series so I assume TC is "Touring Car". I have the Calsonic R31 as well as the Trampio Levins - I'm looking forward to building the R31 but I still need to finish 3 models I started 2 years ago!!

Re: Fujimi's "Motor Sports" Line

Yeah I figured TC was for touring car, I wonder what the "SP" is for though.

Re: Fujimi's "Motor Sports" Line

Did some searching, and came up with this. I can't tell if it ever went past #9.

Fujimi 06211 MS-1 Gathers Integra Type R
Fujimi 06212 MS-2 BP Oil Trampio Skyline GT-R R32 Gr.A
Fujimi 06213 MS-3 AMG Mercedes 190E Ev.II Berlin 2000
Fujimi 06214 MS-4 D2 AMG Mercedes C-Class DTM
Fujimi 06215 MS-5 TwinCam Integra Type R
Fujimi 06216 MS-6 Calsonic Skyline GT-R R32 Gr.A
Fujimi 06217 MS-7 STP TAISAN Skyline GT-R R32 Gr.A
Fujimi 06218 MS-8 Castrol Integra Type R
Fujimi 06219 MS-9 A'pex Integra Type R

Looks like each of the 3 MS series R32 liveries and the 190E were also released in the TC series.
