just a couple pics, nothin fancy

Decided to give her a quick hand wash since the car wash just wasnt cutting it, then sprayed 'er down with some Quick Detail just for kicks.

All things considered I think it looks pretty good, I travel 14 miles of gravel road round-trip at least 5 days a week, plus drive 40 miles round-trip to work, and at least 150 round-trip to school twice a week, not the greatest conditions for keeping a car clean.

armor-all the below doors ground effect to give it that glossy look, tires also. But with the gravel and dust you deal with it's probably not worth the effort.

The top trim on your left-side drivers door it almost touching the rear doors top trim = typical Intrigue stuff (wood block and rubber mallet to get it to slide back).

It looks good! How many miles do you have on it?

Re: just a couple pics, nothin fancy

Its got about 122,5xx on it right now, and growing at a pretty fast rate. Im putting around 1600 miles a month on it, and thats if I just go to work and school.

It does need a little more TLC to look its best, but it also needs some other things too, like brakes on all four corners, an oil change, an o2 sensor couldnt hurt, mines probably getting lazy. I could probably think of a few other things too.

Looks good, they always look so much better when washed by hand. I haven't been able to keep mine clean either, as they've been doing a total reconstruction of my street this summer.

I'd give you a deal on doing the brakes if you lived in the northern Illinois (Go Bears) area.

Re: just a couple pics, nothin fancy

yeah i noticed the front pads were getting pretty thin when i was changing out my wheel bearing, they arent completely shot yet, but you can definitely notice it doesnt stop as well.

Its just a matter of having the money to do all that stuff, I currently fall under the cateogry of "broke college student" right now. Ill get em done though, at least the front pads anyway. Although id rather put fresh rotors on there too, mine arent warped that i can feel, but they probably arent perfect either.

Re: just a couple pics, nothin fancy

the ceramic brake pads on the Intrigue last a long-long-long time. I thought my rears were were making noise -so I changed them. They still had about 1/2 of the pad left. I changed my fronts last year after one was down to the metal.

My new front break pads do make noise from time to time =resonate with low pedal pressure. Typical problem with ceramic pads.

The ones on it now arent ceramic, I plan to get some from Autozone probably that are ceramic and have the 2 year warranty, then get some brake lube and put on all the contact surfaces, and hopefully ill have some nice quiet braking for once.

The Intrigues are just gorgouse looking cars aren't they?

Man, this one is almost identical to mine. The only difference is the alloys.
What year is it?

Re: just a couple pics, nothin fancy

they really are nice cars and with the tinted windows and trim they really have a two-tone look going for them. It's almost shameful that these cars have gone down in value so much. I see 2000 Intrigues for $5000 or less around me and on Ebay they are always on clearance. Would I buy another Intrigue instead of a new $15,000-$20,000-$30,000 car = In a heartbeat. Maybe a final 500 Intrigue with the leather seats.

The red is a nice color and those rims are the preferred type for me. These cars have very good balance on the highway and on snow also when equipped with great tires. The Chevy Impala (another W-platform car) is also very good.

I'm also a big fan of the 3.5L engine (Intrigue and Aurora) while LittleHoov seems to like the 3.8L more. (the 3.5 revs up faster with the DOHC) The 4T65E is a super-smooth tranny and I love to manually shift it. When these cars run well they are awesome.

Re: just a couple pics, nothin fancy

for straight up driveability, I like the 3.8 more, for balls to the wall performance driving, I like the 3.5 better. Just clearing that up.

I also get a lot better gas mileage with the 3.5 than my old 3.8, but it needed some tune-up stuff in its later days.
