94 quest a/c problem
Hello ,
First I am not too automotive inclined. So please forgive me for any stupid sounding terminilogy or the way I explain this. Thanks. I bought my buddies vehicle off him. a Nissan 94 Quest van. I have ridden in this thing many times and the A/c blew extremely cold. I have had it about a month now. A month or so before I bought it off him he took the van into get some work done and have the a/c filled up. The mech said he put a pound of freon in it. Before I bought it the A/c was just blowing hot air. My g/f brother looked at it. He pulled the electrical thing off the compressor to see if the compressor was kicking on. And with it pulled nothing, and when plugged in the compressor fired up. We went to adv auto and bought a adapter kit for the freon and some freon. The a/c unit does not seem to be accepting the freon. None from the cans went in. If I press the stem valve I can hear it come out but nothing goes in. Any help on what could be wrong appreciated. Re: 94 quest a/c problem
First i have to say is A/C is not a do it yourself thing if your not automotive inclined as you stated. If an A/c System is not blowing cold, don't think just adding freon will fix it. Cause to much freon could cause more damage. a A/C compressor pumps low pressure vapor to a high pressure vapor . By adding freon you run risk of the compressor pumping liquid witch will equal to compressor Failure or lockup or passable a ac line exploding!!
The correct way to install Freon is with Gauges to see the pressures you are dealing with with out over filling system with freon . With the Gauges you could see how the system is operating. Freon could be dangerous if not handled properly , Not recommend for the none automotive inclined people, No offence. Just don't want to see anyone get hurt doing something they don't know anything about
