How to check front signal lights.
My left turn signals dont work. I checked the bulbs on the back and they are fine so I am only left to think that there is one burnt out in the front. How do I go about checking that bulb? I checked from underneath but its all blocked. I cant see no way of accessing it.
Also, the light that is supposed to flash works because when I turn my car on it does light on but it just doesnt flash. What could be the problem? Thanks. Last edited by xcohiba; 09-13-2006 at 09:08 PM. |

Re: How to check front signal lights.
Could be a possible wire problem.
But to get to that front one, you have to remove the air deflector and the splash guard. Just a few bolts to remove, then give the splash guard a tug to get it loose from the holding clips, and there ya go. There are 3 retainer screws in the bulb housing that you will have to remove before taking the lens out of its mounting tray. I had to do it to install my clear corners. Here's a site with pics to reference on a 95 Z, but it should all be the same I think. http://shbox.com/1/ft_signal.jpg Wait...what type of car are we talking about here? |

Re: How to check front signal lights.
You can check the bulb in your front turn signals by having your headlights up. If you look next to the head light you can see the turn signal through the top and you can fit your arm in there and remove the bulb to check it. It's kind of snug there so becareful not to scratch your forearm.

Re: How to check front signal lights.
Okay thanks! I was now able to check the front bulbs and to my amazement, they are ok. I even switched with the new ones but the same thing.
So if it isnt the bulbs. What could it be? I am just the type that gets all hysterical when any little thing goes wrong in a car. I could also get ticketed for this too so I want to fix this. Any help? Thanks. |

Then its an internal problem, like a bad wire or the signal stalk in the steering column.

Re: How to check front signal lights.
If it isnt the amber running lights, it is more than likely a bad flasher. Not really sure where that is on your car but I had a similar problem on my '94 T/A a few years back and replaced all the bulbs just to find they were fine and it needed a flasher.
