"low oil pressure. shut down engine" 92 eld.
Did as the message said, checked the oil etc..started back up and no more warning. Maybe intermittent sensor? Has not duplicated and the oil was recently changed and the motor is very clean. 88,000mi. Anyone else ever see this?

Re: "low oil pressure. shut down engine" 92 eld.
Check the connection at the oil pressure sending unit. It's probably that. If the problem recurs, replace the sending unit with an AC Delco OEM unit. The 4.9 engines are a bit fussy about sending units and have been known to generate false warnings with some of the aftermarket "one size fits all" units.
FWIW YMMV |

Re: "low oil pressure. shut down engine" 92 eld.
one other problem that i had was that the cylinder head gasket had gone bad. this i solved by flushing with a fluid sealer for 240 dollars. No more engine shut down warnings so far, but still gets a little hotter than normal (205-210 deg f).
now has 172k on clock. |
