Re: shock lifespan
that's a hard question to answer. we rarely see struts go bad on Honda's. One of our customers has a '94 Civic with 400,000+ miles running the orginal struts. struts typically don't go bad in a split second, it's over a period of time as I'm sure you know. the best thing to is visually inspect them for leaks and do a bounce test.

Re: shock lifespan
I'd say it all depends on what types of roads you drive one. LOTS of crappy paved city driving might wear them out sooner than lots of highway driving. San Fancisco, Los Angeles and New York come off the top of my head as pot hole infested cities which can shorten an OE shock's lifespan. But I'd go with Bullshifter's answer. They SHOULD under normal driving, last the life of the car.

Re: shock lifespan
I’ve got 77,500+ Mi on my 00’ civic & they’re still going strong, & I spend half my time in NYC.

Re: shock lifespan
I replaced mine to Tokico Illuminas at 145k, and the oem ones were still in near perfect condition. So if you drive on good roads and drive it easy then they should last well over 300k miles.

Re: shock lifespan
I would say your more likley to get spring sag before the struts go out. Depend on the treatment and climate too.
